Sick of Waxing and Shaving? Consider Laser Hair Removal

When it comes to body hair, most of us prefer to shave it off. If you are unhappy with continuously shaving or waxing it, you may want to consider a laser removal treatment. Not only does this slow down the hair growth, but it can lead to a more extended hair-free period after several treatments.

Laser hair removal is considered a cosmic treatment and is a perfect solution for those who:

  • Suffer frequently from razor bumps or ingrown hairs
  • Feel the need to shave every single day
  • Are very self-conscious of their body hair (i.e., dread wearing a bathing suit)

If you are considering getting advanced dermatology in Colorado in the form of laser hair removal, it’s important to limit the amount of waxing, plucking and shaving that you do six weeks before your scheduled appointment. You should also limit sun exposure as it can make the treatment less effective.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

If you have already scheduled an appointment for laser hair removal, there are a few things that you should be aware of. The laser equipment that is to be used will be adjusted so that it can adequately treat the location of the hair. This means that the thickness, the color, and the location will need to be disclosed to the doctor.

You will need to wear eye protection, and you may be given a cooling device or gel to put on top of the outer layers of your skin. Once this is done, the light treatment will begin, and the doctor will assess as he or she goes along to ensure that you have no adverse reactions to the laser. Recovery will only take a couple of days, but you will feel like you have been sunburned. Treated hair will fall out, and you will need to wear sunscreen to protect the color of the skin. New appointments can be scheduled every six weeks.
