What is Dysport?

Dysport® is an FDA-approved injectable medication used for cosmetic purposes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by relaxing your facial muscles. It contains botulinum toxin type A, similar to Botox®, and works by temporarily blocking nerve signals in your muscles, thereby reducing muscle activity and smoothing out wrinkles.

How does Dysport differ from Botox?

While Dysport and Botox share the same active ingredient (botulinum toxin type A), they differ in certain aspects. The main difference lies in their formulations, potency, and diffusion properties. 

Dysport has smaller molecules and tends to spread more widely after injection compared to Botox, making it potentially suitable for larger treatment areas. Some individuals may find that Dysport takes effect more quickly than Botox, but the duration of results is generally similar.

What issues can Dysport address?

Dysport is commonly used to address dynamic wrinkles — those caused by repetitive facial movements, such as:

How is Dysport administered?

How long will my Dysport results last?

Your results from Dysport injections aren’t immediate. Instead, they gradually become noticeable within a few days to a week after treatment. The full effects usually peak around two weeks postinjection. 

The duration of Dysport results varies among individuals but generally lasts for about three to four months. As the effects wear off, muscle activity gradually returns, and wrinkles may begin to reappear. Maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain your desired smoother and more youthful appearance.
